2013 Water Quality Monitoring Report
As part of the ongoing work of the Miner Lake Improvement Board, we contract with Progressive AE to assess and report on the overall water quality and vegitation present in Miner Lake.
The specialists from Progressive AE visit the lake at least twice each year and perform a series of tests and observations and compile a report for our review. Below is the summary finding as well as the suporting documents:
Attached is a summary of the water quality and plant survey data collected from Miner Lake in 2013. Also attached are background information on many of the water quality parameters sampled and the exotic plant species found in Miner Lake.
As with the 2012 data, phosphorus levels in the upper waters of the lake were relatively low and open-water algae growth at the time of sampling was minimal. However, water transparency was reduced compared to 2012 (13 feet in 2012 and 6 feet in 2013), and two of the shoreline sampling locations had slightly elevatedE. coli levels. During the plant survey, two exotic species were found in the lake, Eurasian milfoil and starry stonewort.
Overall, the water quality in Miner Lake is reasonably good, but you may want to consider steps in the future to ensure that Eurasian milfoil and starry stonewort do not gain dominance in the lake.
