Notice: Miner Lake Improvement Board – Public Hearing August 30, 2014

As part of the ongoing effort to monitor the overall water quality of Miner Lake and to control nuisance aquatic plants, we are holding a hearing to discuss an updated project for years 2015-2019.

The legal notice and project overview are available below for review. Additionally, each property owner within the district will receive a letter with the same details.

The hearing will be held at the Allegan Township Hall (3037 118th Ave. Allegan, MI 49010) and will begin at 9:30 a.m. on August 30, 2014. This hearing is immediately following the regular fall meeting of the Miner Lake Property Owners Association.

The last project was approved in 2001 and the Miner Lake Improvement Board was able to stretch the funds many years past the planned end date. The existing project had similar objectives and the assessment was in line with what is being requested in this proposed project.

Please review the documents and plan to attend the hearing.

  1. Thanks for the opportunity for community input this morning. And thank you to the board for their hard work and care for the lake.

If Weevil acquisition will be a problem going forward, our family would be glad to attempt raising weevils over the winter. It appears to be a simple operation that can be accomplished with a fluorescent light and a few aquariums. We’ll give it a go and let you know how it goes. Appearantly these bugs propogate very quickly, so I think raising a few thousand won’t require any great effort. Thanks, Tim
