UPDATE: Scheduled Treatment of Invasive Plants

The treatment is scheduled for Thursday, June 10, 2021.
The map below reflects the planned treatment areas.
(Note: PLM confirmed our treatment will include both liquid and granular – based on the area to be treated and known effectiveness of each formulation)
Residents will receive notice on the day of treatment. Signs will be posted along the shoreline within 100 feet of treatment areas that indicate what products were used and specific water use restrictions that apply. The notice will likely look like the DRAFT notice below.
Use Restrictions
The use official restrictions are detailed above, but to clarify, they are:
Swimming is 1-day restriction (running through Friday, June 11, 2021)
Watering of Turf (lawns) has no restriction
Watering of Ornamentals (plants and vegetables) are dependent on measured levels at 1ppb (part per billion) or less
Water samples will be collected within 6-8 days following application. The samples will be tested to determine if any measurable amount of the treatment remains. Testing takes approximately 5-7 days to complete.
Notice of test results will be posted on the association website as soon as they are known www.minerlake.org – likely 2 weeks following treatment.
Based on prior experience (PLM has applied these treatments many hundreds of times) we expect the samples to indicate ‘no detectable traces’. This mean the plans have absorbed much of the treatment, and the remaining has been diluted to less than 1ppb.
However, we caution residents to refrain from watering plants and vegetables until the results are confirmed.
The approved treatments PLM will be applying were selected for their proven track record, minimal usage restrictions, and overall cost. They include:
Copper Sulfate – treatment for Starry Stonewort
Tricloyr – treatment for Eurasian Milfoil. The granular form is the preferred option, but the decision between liquid or granular will be made based on the treatment plan.

The notice in our yard only states Copper Sulfate was applied. Are they coming back with more treatment?
Also, my husband and I are interested in helping with checking water quality. How do we get started with that?

Kim, the article on the website included a map. The areas of treatment are indicated on that map, but Copper Sulfate was only required in a few areas on the lake.
Also, I’ll be in touch about the water quality/sampling options. Thanks!
