Boating Safety on Miner Lake

We have received a number of calls from residents concerned with unsafe boating practices on the lake this summer.

Specifically, the use of Jet-skis (PWCs) after dark. That concern became more real over the 4th of July holiday when a PWC being operated after dark collided with a pontoon boat (with its lights on). The sheriff’s department was contacted and we have been informed that a citation was issued for operating a PWC after dark.

My understanding is that there were not any serious injuries in this case, and as a community we have been fortunate to not have had any serious incidents. However, if we are not respectful of each other and the law we increase the likelihood of tragedy.

Finally, we are going to offer/sponsor a boating safety course ahead of next year (likely the spring). There will be more details to follow on that.
