The Allegan County Health Department has issued an advisory against contact with surface water (such as lakes). It would be best to avoid contact for at least a few days after the lake returns to normal levels.
“Given the unusual number of high E. coli samples, people might want to consider staying away from surface water in general,” said Bill Hinz, the Allegan County Health Department’s environmental health director.

To be completely clear, the advisory is not specific to Miner Lake. It was a general advisory notice for lakes in our area. Sam Martin (Association President) spoke with Bill Hinz several times over that last few days and Bill’s advice was for our residents to avoid contact for the next several days.
