Officially, there were 7 entries this year (an 8th appears to have joined the fun) and the judges were impressed with all of them. Thanks to all who helped make this event a fun part of our 4th of July Celebration. However, there were 4 that received special recognition:
Drum roll please….
First Place:
Boat 5 – Paddle Boat look with the children Popsicles… It was very creative and was very patriotic. Of the 7 judges we had on the shore, we all agreed that this one was the best boat. We loved the umbrella that gave the look of the paddle of a old show boat. And the sequence Popsicles with the children popping out of them was darling. They also had the cutest signs promoting the holiday.
Second Place:
Boat 1 – Hawaii 50th anniversary becoming a state. We also loved this boat and the meaning behind it. They went all out on the decor of the boat along with great Hawaiian music. The “crew” was very full of energy and had people on the shore cheering as they went by.
Third Place:
Boat 8 – United We Stand Boat. Again the boat was well constructed with lots of details. I think our favorite part was the little one on the front of the boat dressed as the Status of Liberty. Very nicely done
Honorable Mention:
Boat 2 – We loved this boat and their crew. It was not so much of how much decor they had on the boat but the fact that as a family they had made handmade t-shirts for crew to wear and the dogs were a big hit with all the judges.
We will be contacting the 4 honorees and will post pictures of all participants.
