We have received an inquiry from a resident about an organized approach to tree removal around Miner Lake. As most are aware, the Ash trees have been significantly impacted by the Emerald Ash Borer. To date, residents have contracted with tree services on and individual basis.
Although the association will not be in a position to fund or guarantee the work, we would be willing to connect with a service and negotiate a discounted rate and time window for service.
Please advise if there is interest by commenting on this thread. We will also include this as a topic at the Fall Meeting on September 3rd.
We do have a Resources Section of the website where home owners can leave reviews/recommendations for businesses, contractors or services they have experience with. Consider posting the names of a company to the site. Contact Sam Martin to have one added.

I have 16 dead standing trees including many Ash and I just got a nice quote of $3,000 to cut them all down. Then, I got another quote from a different guy for $20/tree to haul away the firewood greater than about 5 inches in diameter (except for my big Pine.. he won’t take that, but he said he’d cut it up for me). I’ve accepted the $3K quote, but still need to work on coordinating the timing and I still need to figure out my plans for all the brush removal…. I was thinking about renting a chipper and chipping it all in that area on Lorraine in a nice pile, but I don’t know if that’s allowed/desired?
I talked to the company that’s cutting down the trees (Halls Tree Service out of Paw Paw… I saw their insurance) and they said they’d be interested in helping others around the lake. Not sure what sort of deal they’d cut or how any of that would work though….. I guess if more folks are interested, we can maybe make a more formal quote request to that company?

As far as using the leaf area, we would certainly want to double-check with the land owner. They have been generous to allow grass and lawn debris, but have asked that trees and larger items (especially non-organic) not be placed there. We want to respect their guidelines.
